Jessore, Dec 20: Jessore has set an example to the country showing how people could make their lifestyle easy munching juicy fruit of digitization as the entire district administration has become digitized in a superb fast manner, reports BSS. It's almost like a dream comes true for the district administration as they have proved that the present government's 'digital Bangladesh' campaign is not just a 'buzz' word, it is a reality.
"Now we are operating our 240 district offices through e- files and taking at least 90 percent of the decisions by clicking our district web portal," said Deputy Commissioner of Jessore Mustafizur Rahman while briefing journalists and some foreign IT experts at his office yesterday. Now people are able to issue land registration certificates in two days that took 18 to 30 days just a year back, Mustafizur Rahman said in an excited voice. The government had selected Jessore as the first digital district and set up 'District e- service Center' at the district administration offices one year back as the first step towards making all functions of the district digital under its Access to Information (A2I) programme, supported by the UNDP. Presently people are getting all kinds of government permission, land certificates and licenses from this district e- service center in a very fast and hassle free manner. "Now People don't need to go from desk to desk or have to wait for long to get a government permission or license for their business or other activities ..they are getting services from just one counter in an unbelievable fast manner as we are doing all the jobs through online," Mustafizur said.
For an example, we had to go through 12 stages in the past to give a land certificate that is now being done in just four clicks, he said adding even any one can make appointment through online for interview. The DC said presently around 400 people are asking for different kinds of government services daily though district portal from different parts of the district. "When we started we used to get 4 to 5 online applications daily but it has increased to 400 by only one year," he said.
